This qualification allows the learner to acquire advanced underpinning knowledge and related skills of electrical installation. It does not require occupational evidence from the workplace, so is suitable for learners who currently do not work within the electrical Industry (but may wish to do so). The units of the qualification have been derived from the relevant National Occupational Standards, so contribute to developing the skills and knowledge that have been identified to operate effectively as an electrician. Therefore, successful completion of the qualification facilitates progression to the Industry recognised qualification. It provides you an opportunity to practice and be assessed in a secure environment on the installation and testing of electrical equipment together with the relevant theory of electrical installation to the current edition of the wiring regulations. You have the opportunity to utilise BS 7671 within some of the units and also acquire the relevant understanding of electrical science and principles.

Learners must be at least 18 years of age. Successful completion of the level 2 course or previous completion of a recognised electrical installation qualification at level 2 e.g. C&G 2365 or 2330.
Who is this qualification for? If you currently do not work within the electrical Industry (but may wish to do so). Those who wish to develop their understanding and skills of electrical installation. What does this qualification cover? The qualification has mandatory and optional units (subject to change by the awarding body). The mandatory units cover electrical installation design, environmental technology systems, electrical science and principles, electrical installation craft, inspection, testing, commissioning; and diagnosing and correcting electrical faults, and unit BS7671, 2018 and AM2. The qualification also has integral health and safety in some of the units applicable to the topic being studied.
Centre marked assignments, centre marked practical activities and multiple choice exams with a final synoptic exam.
The qualification will not make you an electrician , but will facilitate progression to the industry recognised qualifications. To be recognised as a qualified, competent electrician you need to complete the level 3 NVQ and AM2 qualifications.
